NEW YORK CITY, NY – Today, Geoff & Co., Ltd recently announced the launch of GCaribbean magazine, the first and only lifestyle publication for Caribbean men, designed to provide culturally relevant content with a fresh and sophisticated aesthetic. Published quarterly in print and online, GCaribbean fills a void in the global marketplace with content curated – for men in, of and connected to the Caribbean – with a simple philosophy, “Feel Good, Look Great and Live Genius.”
On February 2nd, GCaribbean’s launch party will be held at Manhattan’s new ultra chic lounge EVR and acclaimed Barbadian-born singer and songwriter Shontelle will host the event, with special musical performances by London-based recording artist Rickstar, who has Jamaican roots. The celebration event will honor the modern Caribbean man and the women who love them. The event will give invitees a chance to preview the content in GCaribbean’s premiere issue, which features unique profiles of the King of Soca music Machel Montano, and Grammy Award-winning singer, Melanie Fiona. GCaribbean offers editorial from entertainment, culture and fashion to fitness, women and sex, all from a distinctive Caribbean perspective.
GCaribbean’s inaugural issue also boasts editorial highlighting the “Top 25 Female Celebrities with Caribbean Roots,” a tribute to the 46 Caribbean Olympians at the 2012 Summer Olympics and all the information one will ever need to know about Caribbean rum. The bestselling author of The Tipping Point, Blink, Outliers and What the Dog Saw Malcolm Gladwell (whose mother is Jamaican) is featured in the magazines’ ASK column, while Cedella and Karen Marley gives their perspectives on the latest documentary on their father the Reggae Icon Robert Nesta Marley.
Founder and Editor-In-Chief Geoff K. Cooper explained, “The ‘G’ in GCaribbean is not something that is singularly defined. It channels its meaning from the elements of a man that start with the letter ‘G’ whether it be: Gentleman, Gangster, Gallant, Gifted or Genius. With GCaribbean we seek to engage, inform, celebrate, elevate and inspire millions of island-invested men across the world. Men in and of the Caribbean are unique, we have our own style, even more, our own way of being.” Cooper noted, “People in and of the Caribbean have much influence and buying power. Some influencers include personalities in the Caribbean and those with Caribbean heritage such as Adrienne Bailon, Cameron Diaz, Colin Powell, Eric Holder, Joan Smalls, Jennifer Lopez, Maegan Good, Naomi Campbell, Naomie Harris, Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Rihanna, Ryan Leslie, Sidney Poitier, Wyclef Jean, and Zoe Saldana to name a few.”
GCaribbean magazine will be available on newsstands in the Caribbean and internationally in airports, hotels, restaurants, lounges and other locations through a controlled distribution in cities with strong Caribbean ties – New York/Tri-State Area, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Atlanta, Texas, Toronto, Montreal and London. GCaribbean.com will be the magazine’s online extension.
