Lil’ Chef Whets appetitie of Coco Palm guests and Rodney Bay diners

Lil Chef: a popular spot in Rodney Bay Village, Saint Lucia.

RODNEY BAY VILLAGE, Saint Lucia  – Café culture has added a new dimension to the allure and appeal of Coco Palm with the opening of Lil’ Chef headed by award-winning restaurateurs Chef Rosie and Marc Joinville.

Coco Palm resort guests and locals alike can choose from Lil’ Chef’s all-day breakfast menu which includes favourites such as Eggs Benedict, Florentine or Royale to healthy fresh fruit smoothies laced with honey, wheat germ and flax seed.

And what pleases everybody is these culinary teats are available all day-long, catering to the late risers on holiday or limers on weekends.

Depending on the appetite, visitors to Rodney Bay Village can enjoy a relaxed lunch of Feta Salad, Mushrooms on Toast or Steak Frites; or run in and grab a hot, crusty baguette to take back to a business meeting or head off to the beach.

From the moment patrons enter the lush gardens just off the main Rodney Bay strip in the ‘Kreole Courtyard,’ they are drawn in by the earth-toned awnings and natural lighting. The fresh open air setting is enhanced by the well-manicured lawns and spirited, chic boutique hotel that surround the inviting restaurant.

“Offering our guests an additional food outlet which complements the Ti Bananne restaurant is in keeping with our principle of value for money with a local twist. Lil’ Chef offers a healthy variety along with a brunch menu ideal for those looking for lighter fare at affordable prices,” said Feolla Chastanet, Coco Palm’s Managing Director.

Following the popularity and success of Big Chef Steakhouse, the expansion to the café market is new territory for Chef Rosie Joinville and husband Marc Joinville who head the Lil’ Chef team.

Chef Rosie is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in London, and since completing her studies she has travelled the world, cooking on a floating hotel in France, hotels in Hong Kong and on a sheep farm in Australia. She managed several restaurants, including the legendary San Antoine and the prestigious resort kitchens of Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort, before taking over Big Chef Steakhouse with her husband in 2007.

Marc’s hospitality management experience is vast. After graduating from César Ritz School of Hotel Management in Switzerland, he worked at Baur au Lac Hotel in Zurich. He then completed post-graduate studies in Halifax, Nova Scotia, before returning to his native Saint Lucia, where he held senior hotel management positions at Jalousie Plantation, Sandals Resorts, Windjammer Landing and Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa. Marc has also spent time working in Jamaica, Turks & Caicos and Antigua.

Coco Palm’s addition of a second food outlet (in addition to Ti Bananne Caribbean Bar and Bistro) has tantalized the tastebuds of the café lover and the varied menu of breakfast cocktails, small bites to go and salads cater to guests all day and visitors to the area seeking to explore new culinary choices.

Since its opening, Lil’ Chef has provided relaxed sophistication for the dining experience, and is fast becoming one of the hottest daytime eateries in the north of the island – particularly for the Sunday crowd.

Situated in Coco Palm’s Kreole Courtyard in Rodney Bay Village, Lil’ Chef is open daily, serving breakfast from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the lighter fare from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is sure to appease the lil’ or big appetite.
