Antigua’s Inland Revenue upgrades IT system

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) is in the process of upgrading its IT system in a bid to serve the public more efficiently.

To this end, the Inland Revenue Department will not be issuing any Personal Income Tax (PIT) Forms in the mail as is customary. Hence, the IRD is encouraging Self-employed individuals and employers to come into the Inland Revenue Department on Newgate Street upstairs the Shoul’s Toys, Gifts and Housewares and collect their F48 Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and F55 Forms immediately.

Please take note that the deadline to file your annual returns for the income year 2009 is due no later than 15th February 2010.

According to Deputy Commissioner of the IRD Everton Gonsalves, an employer who, under section 15 of the Personal Income Tax Act 2005, is required to withhold tax shall, not later than the 15th February each year, submit to the Commissioner an annual return in the prescribed Form in respect to the preceding income year.

Employers who have not yet collected their F55 Forms are urged to come into the Inland Revenue Department and collect them.

Additionally, persons who need assistance or further clarification about their obligations, you are asked to visit the Inland Revenue Department where officers are readily available to assist you.
