CORAL GABLES, FL – The Caribbean is poised for an economic recovery and ready to receive a growing number of vacationers which is evidenced by the tour operators’ interest in the region. This interest is calculated by the number of pre-scheduled appointments wholesalers and tour operators have made with Caribbean hoteliers for the upcoming Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) Caribbean Marketplace 2010.
CHTA has arranged 11,930 pre-scheduled appointments for Caribbean Marketplace 2010, the second highest in the past eight years and just three percent behind the total appointments for Caribbean Marketplace 2009. Currently there are 1,019 delegates registered for the conference with registration continuing through the start of the conference.
Staged by CHTA, along with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Puerto Rico Convention Bureau, Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism Association, MasterCard and Virgin Holidays, Caribbean Marketplace takes place at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan, Jan. 10-12, 2010.
“The influx in registrations for Caribbean Marketplace 2010 indicates that there is a high interest level in Caribbean vacations worldwide and tour operators and wholesalers are recognizing this demand and making appointments with Caribbean hoteliers in order to create vacation packages for 2010 and beyond,” said Enrique De Marchena Kaluche, president of CHTA.
Caribbean Marketplace 2010 is the perfect opportunity for wholesalers and tour operators to meet with hoteliers, attractions and destination officials to plan and prepare packages to accommodate potential vacationers. Wholesalers, tour operators and other buyers can still register for Caribbean Marketplace here while suppliers can register here. Log-in codes for online registration have been sent to all previous participants. Those who have not received a log-in code should contact CHTA at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hotel accommodations are NOT included in the registration fee for buyers or suppliers.
Buyer registration is $299 per person (after the third buyer delegate, the fee is reduced to $99 per additional delegate) and includes two buffet lunches, opening cocktail reception, buffet dinner and entertainment at the Caribbean Night event, entrance to all business and social functions, and shuttle bus service between host hotels and the Puerto Rico Convention Center.
Supplier registration is $459 per person and requires the purchase of a booth. Booth rentals are priced as follows:
$630 per hotel for a small shared booth (two small hotels share 6 ft. x 8 ft. space)
$1,030 for a small booth (6 ft. x 8 ft. space)
$1,930 for a large booth (8 ft. x 8 ft)
$2,230 for a mega booth (10 ft. x 8 ft.)
The Sheraton Puerto Rico Convention Center Hotel & Casino, which opened in November 2009, is the host hotel for the conference. Located adjacent to the Puerto Rico Convention Center, the new 503-room property will accommodate both business and leisure travelers, offering exceptional meeting facilities, a full-service casino and resort-like amenities, including a sundeck/pool, spa and retail space. Sheraton Puerto Rico is the first new full-service hotel and casino built in San Juan in more than 10 years.
In addition to CHTA, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Puerto Rico Convention Bureau and Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism Association, sponsors of Caribbean Marketplace 2010 include: host sponsors MasterCard and Virgin Holidays as well as Air Jamaica, AMResorts, Caribbean Travel & Life, Choice Hotels International, Eventstar, Forum Tel, Green Globe Certification, InterContinental Hotels Group, Interval International, St. Maarten Tourist Bureau, Starwood Caribbean Collection, Travelzoo, TripAdvisor, Tropical Shipping, and Utell Hotels & Resorts.
