San Fernando, Trinidad – In a modern world filled with new, emerging trends in teaching and varying schools of thought as to how the education process should be delivered, one institution is doing its part to ensure that the youth of Trinidad & Tobago aren’t left behind. Divine Intervention Preparatory Private School brings forth new methods to moulding the nation’s young minds during their formative years.
Divine Intervention Preparatory Private or DIPPS is a progressive pre-school located at #25 Dolly Street, Battoo Boulevard, Marabella. It is dedicated to producing a new generation of leaders and critical thinkers who are holistically grounded with positive values, lifelong skills and equipped with the best options and possibilities for embracing life’s challenges.
DIPPS’ goal is to create a nurturing and engaging environment where children are active participants in the learning process and to supply a child-centred curriculum which caters to the individual needs of each child. This curriculum follows an integrated approach, is creatively inclusive, flexible and guided by the National Curriculum Guide of Trinidad and Tobago.
In addition to all the traditional subjects offered generally at pre-school level, DIPPS’ unique course of learning includes 3 foreign languages i.e. Spanish, French and Mandarin as well as etiquette training.
In keeping with the information age, cutting edge technology is an imperative part of this program. The DIPPS website provides an e-learning portal which gives students access to learning materials outside of the classroom such as downloadable pre-recorded web class sessions and an online library of fun, educational videos & games.
For the convenience of parents, the website can also be used to follow up on their children’s performance and progress and planned parent-teacher conference calls can be done via Blackboard Collaborate, Skype or other suitable audio/visual media.
The school is the brainchild of founder and administrator Makalla Lewis-Joseph who not only holds the mantle of mother but also an accomplished teacher with years of experience teaching at the pre-school level. Makalla holds a degree from the University of the West Indies in Early Childhood and Family studies.
She has successfully parlayed her passion along with her practical and theoretical knowledge into DIPPS.
According to Makalla, “Having completed our unique course of study, students should confidently have an idea of who they are and what they can accomplish with the greatness within themselves.”
